Even before she was married, Camille Geraldi knew that she wanted to take care of children with special needs. In fact, when she met her future husband, she had already taken in three. Over the next four decades, she and her husband couple adopted 88 children.
“The children I took in were expected to die,” she recalled. “But so many of them have lived.”
The years that have followed have been very full, while they have raised children with every imaginable challenge, from being born with only a brain stem to having autism. They’ve buried 32 of their children and persevered through ups and downs.
