“I will carry on for as long as I can, I enjoy it.”
Viv is 76 years old. Her husband, Ken, is 84. And over the past three decades, they have fostered over 46 children.
Ken and Viv, who live in the UK, got into fostering when their adult daughter suggested it to them. They started out as respite providers, but later opened up to longer-term placements, welcoming children of all ages into their home, doing their best to make them feel comfortable. “The children like to be treated as one of the family,” says Viv. “They don’t want to be an outsider who has just walked into the home.”
