A Promise Kept: A Mother Reunites Her Adopted Daughter With Her Birth Mother

In March of 1993, two mothers met in Lima, Peru. One, Jessica, had chosen to place her baby for adoption. The other, Mary Ellen, was adopting the baby, a little girl named Natalie. At that time, Mary Ellen promised Jessica that she would one day bring her daughter back to Peru to meet her. In December 2013, she followed through on that promise. Natalie had been working with a private international tutor to learn Spanish so she could communicate with her birth mother without a translator . . . and the moment they see each other again is beautiful.

In the comments of the video Mary Ellen writes, “The trip was better than my highest expectations for everyone in both families. The real story of her birth and adoption process was explained and is even more amazing than I thought.”
