We Are Supposed To Do This

“We are supposed to do this” are the words Natalie Patterson scratched on a note to her husband during an informational foster care meeting.

The Pattersons always felt that they would be foster parents, but they never expected that the beautiful child they would foster would become part of their family one day.

“But this month we finalized an adoption from foster care, and a child that was born to another woman is now mine, forever,” Natalie writes.

She shares about the difficulties of adoption and the uncertainty. Although it is beautiful, it can be a difficult road to go down.

“So why do I share this? Why not just let the smiling pictures be enough and only show the happy side? Why be so vulnerable and not just keep the difficult part to myself? Because that’s not reality,” she writes.
