Kristin Anderson gives us an inside look on what it’s like to be an adoptive mom, and it’s amazing.
Being an adoptive mom is just like any other parenting experience would be, only, there are a few differences.
Anderson shares that there’s a lot more people to love when you are an adoptive mom. She shares how her adoption is an open one, and that she and her husband now care for an extra person in a way: the birth mother.
“When we first started the adoption process, I assumed we’d have a closed adoption. But the more I learned about open adoption and realized how much sense it made, the more interested I got in who the birth mother would be. This person was going to change our lives and then remain in our lives as a new extended family member.”
Anderson goes on to explain that there is a lot of explaining involved when you’re an adoptive mother, especially with the different conversations around her. People are curious and ask more questions than they might normally.
