Joy is an eighth grader who would love to be adopted. She worries, though, that most people aren’t interested in adopting an older child. She says, “I know they want a baby, but I can be the little kid if they want me to.”
Curious about her lack of hair? She’s got Alopecia, a condition in which your immune system attacks your hair follicles. It’s something that struck her last year, during the 7th grade. “I have two wigs,” she says. “A light up wig that lights up and blinks and a real wig that’s blonde.” She often simply goes without hair, though. Joy says her condition doesn’t bother her.
She has a great sense of humor, a love of having fun, and what she describes as a “big imagination.”
Joy is looking for a family with a mom and a dad where she can be the only kid at home. “It’s really hard to live without a dad in my life right now,” she says.
