I Didn’t Give you the Gift of Life

Every time someone finds out I adopted my son, they often thank or praise me.  I know that they are just misinformed and don’t realize the heartache that surrounds adoption and the loss his birth parents and he have in order to land him in my home, but I still feel it will only help them and me when I share with them that I am the blessed one.  He is a gift to me in so many ways. Life brought me and him down this path and together, we are family.

I didn’t give you the gift of life but in my heart I know, the love I feel is deep and real as if it had been so.

For us to have each other is like a dream come true. No, I didn’t give you the gift of life, life gave me the gift of you.
