Family Thought Only Brother Was Placed For Adoption, Then Sister Showed Up

Barbara Pilotte knew she had been placed for adoption all her life. It wasn’t until her adoptive mother passed away and left behind Barbara’s adoption papers that she knew anything about her biological family.

Barbara began her search immediately and found an article about her birth family. As it turns out, her siblings had recently reunited with a younger brother who was also placed for adoption. Her siblings thought they had all been reunited, until a family member of Barbara’s reached out to them and told them they had one more sister.

The siblings confirmed it with their father and a reunion was planned.

Barbara reunited with her siblings on her 52nd birthday. She was showered with love and gifts. She had 51 carnations with one rose to represent the birthdays missed apart and the one they celebrated together.

“It was weird seeing people I look like,” Pilotte said. “I didn’t look anything like my adoptive parents, so it was different.”
