John Bates spent 22 years searching for his birth parents, hoping to gain an understanding of who he was and where he came from. His search took him on an adventure, with many twists and turns, and he has written about it in his book, “Inlaws and Outlaws: The DNA Mystery of a Music Icon’s Son.”
He writes, “For a moment, imagine everything you thought you knew about your life, your parents and siblings, your entire identity, turned out to be some sort of twisted fiction. Add a bit of cloak and dagger to the mix and you’ll have an idea of where this story takes you.”
This personal portrait of a search for identity and roots will speak to anyone connected to the adoption triad.
