Jane Gorman

Jane Gorman is a California attorney with a practice primarily focused on contested adoptions and appeals. She is the immediate past president of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, a national organization of lawyers specializing in adoptions, and past president of the Academy of California Adoption Lawyers. A graduate of Vanderbilt University in Tennessee and Western State University College of Law in California, she is a frequent lecturer on adoption-related issues nationwide.

Ms. Gorman is active in legislative reform, testifying frequently on adoption issues before Congress and teh California legislature. Among her high profile adoption cases is In re Bridget R. a case involving the Columbus, Ohio adoption of twin girls from California whose birth parents claimed the twins were "Indian children" and thus subject to the Indian Child Welfare Act.
