Chris and Alicia Bieniek have a heart for teens in foster care. They’ve been fostering children for 12 years and adopted two kids. This April, they adopted their daughter Katelynn shortly before her 18th birthday, who says she “just felt at home” with the Bienieks, adding that she now feels secure, knowing she always has a safe place to fall back on as she embarks on the adventure of adulthood.
A lot of people feel like they’re not up to the task of parenting teens in foster care. But Chris says he just tries to send a few core messages to the kids who come into his home. “I believe in you. You can do it. You can be a success. You’re beautiful. You can trust me because I’m not going to hurt you. Those are simple parenting techniques. It doesn’t take a groundswell to save these kids.”
